In an atmosphere of unity, respect, and gratitude, the Martha Acosta Foundation held a moving ceremony at its headquarters to honor the memory of the mentors who were fundamental to its history and whose legacy and teachings continue to inspire its mission of promoting agricultural education in Mexico.

At the altar prepared with special care, Dr. Consuelo Arana, Dr. Ricardo Jiménez, Dr. Irma Elizondo, and Dr. Juan Manuel Magallón were remembered—four of the mentors who left a profound mark on the Foundation’s history and on the development of swine education in Mexico. Amid flowers, photographs, and prayers, a rosary was offered in their memory as a token of gratitude for their teachings and for the legacy that continues to inspire new generations.

During this significant ceremony, the Magallón Mares family was formally asked to sponsor the first generation of the Virtual Swine Farm School program, in memory of their son, Juan Manuel Magallón Mares, DVM, one of the most remembered and beloved mentors in the sector.

Juan Manuel was a young entrepreneur who, with an innovative vision and a strong work ethic, founded his own media outlet specializing in the swine industry. At a young age, he earned the respect and affection of the swine community thanks to his enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication, becoming a role model and example for new generations.

His legacy and example live on, and his family’s gesture in accepting to join the Foundation as sponsors of the first generation of the Virtual Swine Farm School represents the continuation of his values: commitment, passion, and love for agricultural education. The day concluded with a meal and pleasant gathering among the families in attendance, in an atmosphere of warmth and gratitude.
