I am José de Jesús González Franco, a young Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science student at the Centro Universitario de Los Altos of the Benemérita Universidad de Guadalajara. For the second time, I have had the privilege of being selected by the foundation to attend the AASV Annual Meeting, a congress that has had a significant impact on my life, as it is one of the most important events in the swine industry, the field in which I will continue to develop professionally.
I express my sincere gratitude to the AASV Foundation and the Martha Acosta Foundation for giving me this opportunity to attend. I am confident that the benefits of this experience will be evident, and I am willing to contribute to the development of swine industry education for young Mexicans in the future. The benefits I have gained are something I will always be grateful for.
The event has had a great impact on my professional career since, in addition to training through the lectures, it provided me with access to expert professionals willing to offer their support and open doors for my continued growth in the field.
This year, I focused on attending seminars related to Mycoplasma, water care, and biosecurity, as I am currently doing my professional internship at Laboratorios Ceetal México.

Attending this event was highly beneficial. The most valuable aspects were lectures on Mycoplasma, Tilmicosin benefits, PED eradication, biosecurity, and water quality management. These topics align with my internship company’s focus, serving as excellent training and broadening my perspective on how I can contribute to the company and aim for a technical leadership position, fostering both my professional and personal growth.
My goal is to pursue a master’s degree and PhD and gain recognition in the Mexican swine industry.
These events emphasize technical knowledge over commercial aspects, unlike other events. I hope the foundation continues offering scholarships to future students, motivating them to contribute to the development of the national swine industry. Many students would love to attend, but financial constraints prevent them from doing so. I am confident that continuing these opportunities will benefit the industry. Once again, I am deeply grateful for this opportunity—it has been an invaluable boost to my career.
