On November 4, 2022, the Martha Acosta Foundation awarded scholarships for students of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics took place, the event was held at the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences (CUCBA UDG). One of the main objectives in the delivery of scholarships by the foundation was to celebrate the work of two exceptional professionals who during their career stood out in their work in favor of pig farming, the honorees of this edition were the MVZ María del Consuelo Arana Flores QEPD and the MVZ Ricardo Jiménez Rubio QEPD.
Prior to the start of the event, representatives of the industry and relatives of the honorees were summoned to attend the ceremony, and in the event the panel was conformed by: Dr. Martha Alicia Acosta Padilla (President of the Foundation), Lic. Sinuhe Jiménez (Representing the Jiménez Rubio Family), MVZ Jorge Ivan Espinoz a (Director of the URPJ) and the MVZ David Sánchez Chipre (Head of the Department of Public Health), who served as master of ceremonies and representative of CUCBA UDG.
During the ceremony, Dr. Martha Acosta gave a brief talk about the origin and cause of the Foundation, as well as a warm congratulations for their performance as students to the fellows. The MVZ Jorge Ivan Espinoza, shared an emotional talk describing the trajectory of the MVZ María del Consuelo Arana Flores not only highlighting her work in the professional field, but also in her personal life as a woman, mother, friend and human being. In his participation, Mr. Sinuhe Jiménez highlighted the importance of being ethical professionals, thus recalling the impeccable career of his father the MVZ Ricardo Jimenzó Rubio whom they remember as a passionate, loyal, honest and, enterprising professional.
Among emotional accounts of achievements and merits that marked transcendence in the honored professionals, we proceeded to the delivery of recognitions and stipends for the students of the career of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics. The MVZ María del Consuelo Arana Flores scholarship was received by student Lizbeth Camarena Monjarás. Subsequently, the second scholarship was awarded in honor of MVZ RiCardo Jiménez Rubio received by the student María Ysabel Hernández Hernández.
To conclude with a flourish, Dr. Martha Acosta thanked the presence of each of those present, commemorating the memory of her colleagues and sharing the enthusiasm andvision she maintains for the Martha Acosta Foundation, aspiring to provide more and more support for students with orientation to the pig sector.
