The Martha Acosta Foundation awarded the tenth scholarship to Dr. Adelfa del Carmen García Contreras. Through this edition, the career of Dr. Adelfa del Carmen García Contreras, Researcher and Professor committed to the development of pig farming in Mexico and to education in the area of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, was recognized.
On September 18 of this year, representatives of the Martha Acosta Foundation went to Mexico City to deliver a new scholarship at the Metropolitan Autonomous University of the Xochimilco Unit, in order to benefit a new student interested in developing professionally in the swine sector.
During the event, University Authorities were present and supported and directed the award ceremony, with the valuable presence of Dr. Francisco Javier Soria López; Rector of the Xochimilco Unit, Dr. Luis Amado Ayala Pérez; Director of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences, Dr. Irma Gabriela Anaya Saavedra; Coordinator of Academic Liaison and Strengthening, Dr. Adelfa del Carmen García Contreras; Teacher and Researcher of the Department of Agricultural and Animal Production of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences. Dr. Luis Manuel Magallón Gómez was present externally; Representative of the swine industry, the LTS. Yarely Valdés; Manager of Mexico and Lucia Martínez; Treasurer of the Martha Acosta Foundation.
Dr. Martha Alicia Acosta Padilla, CEO of the Martha Acosta Foundation, was also present at the event. Through her remote intervention, she thanked the university authorities for their support and openness to achieve the social objective that the foundation maintains with students and agricultural education.
On the other hand, she expressed to her close friend and colleague Dr. Adelfa García (mentor awarded in this edition), the recognition of her work in the swine sector, her humanity and sense of philanthropy throughout her career not only as a professional but also as a woman, sister, mother and friend
In turn, Dr. Adelfa García shared a message to those present expressing her pride in this distinction, pledging to guide and support the scholarship recipient who will represent her scholarship with professionalism and synergy during their active period as a student. Later, an autobiographical video clip of Dr. Adelfa’s personal and professional experiences was transmitted, who transmitted a great message “There is nothing that prevents you from doing what you like, only you are the person responsible for generating your own opportunities”
Concluding with the awarding of the scholarship and recognition to the winning student Enrique Alberto G.G. who expressed his commitment to comply with the statute of the scholarship and keep the name of the university and his profession high
